Colin Beavan

I saw Colin Beavan's lecture in Strahan Coliseum on the 22nd of September. I noticed that his book appears to make some points that may seem ridiculous yet-- in my opinion-- the ideas shown in his speech are quite logical. I realized even more so that things such as electronic devices, while not the most diabolical creations on Earth, can trap us in a sensation of "false" freedom.

For example, one can use technology to communicate with people from around the world. However, perhaps it is better to sometimes just go out meet in person with others. Imagine the amount of people with whom you could become friends with if you were truly adventuring more often rather than inputting information into a gadget.

Personally, I do not think that I will be giving up my cellular phone or computer any time soon. That being said, I now feel more encouraged to "get out there" and meet new people. In multiple ways, I can strongly agree that Colin Beavan's lecture was very much worth the time.
